Michael Moran, Whitman HS Class of 94
Featured in Next Door News - October 2006  Mike Moran began his career in the restaurant business at age 16, at the former Boston Chicken on Bethesda Avenue. "I learned so much there," the Whitman graduate says, "even though I was so young and so underpaid."
Though the restaurant eventually closed, Mike's interest in the food industry was just warming up.
In 1997, he left Bethesda for Atlanta, where he works for a popular Thai restaurant. In his spare time, Mike read up on business and marketing which came in handy when Mike decided to create his own line of restaurant-quality Thai sauces.
"People are really intimidated by Asian cooking at home," Mike explains.
Mike spent 2005 doing product tastings. The website launched on January 2, and has already sold sauces to every state, including Hawaii and Alaska. Mike returns to Bethesda about once a month, usually staying with his grandmother on Northfield Road.
Mike remembers spending much of his childhood playing basketball at Greenwich Park.
